January 2012
Snow is falling and
the wind is blowing
today. Mike is gone
to Madison and the
horses are in the
barn so I am forcing
myself to sit down
and write some news
to get caught up on
the website. After
all, the new babies
will be arriving
soon and I haven't
written since before
I went to the World
Show in November.
Now if I can only
remember what
happened since then.
Picture below, Sandi
and Lanis
I had such a
wonderful time at
the World Show. It
is the time of the
year when I am able
to see and visit
with so many
friends, in person.
For the first time,
Vicki Livasy joined
out group. Vicki is
the one who designs
and maintains my web
site and I had never
met her before. She
certainly was all I
expected and even
more. We had a
great time and she
fit right in with
our group. We saw
some incredible
horses and ate at
some fantastic
places. The first
day, Lanis and I
traveled to Terry
Bradshaw Quarter
Horses as we wanted
to see the mares
that he had bought
from us. Connie was
not there but we
looked around and
saw many outstanding
mares. Terry has a
beautiful facility
and Connie is always
such a gracious
host. Also on that
day, we visited
Russell McIntosh and
saw his great group
of mares and
outstanding babies.
I asked him what he
did to get so many
fillies as I would
really like to learn
the "filly secret"
Russell has been
able to sell most of
his colts and they
have gone to great
show homes. As you
all know, that is so
important to
building a
reputation.

It
is always so
educational to watch
the halter classes
as that is where my
interest lies. Many
of my good friends
did well. Dr John
Tan's weanling
gelding, Righteous
Endeavor won his
amateur class.
John's brother,
James showed him.
He is by Righteous
Mister and out of
Rebecca 's (You Bet
Im Cool) daughter by
Im Kiddin. I am so
happy for them.
Fancy was the first
horse that John
bought and I am
proud that he bought
her from me. A
Classic Edition also
was Reserve Champion
Performance Halter
Mare. She was shown
by her owner, Dan
Fox. I am anxiously
awaiting a new foal
out of her dam,
Cooleah (Olivia)
This one will be
sired by My
Intentions.

Lanis and I did not
leave until Sunday
morning so we did
something we had
never done on
Saturday
afternoon. We
watched the
performance
classes. We
enjoyed them so
much, we intend to
make watching them a
part of our next
World Show. I guess
after all these
years, I finally
figured out that I
was missing a big
part of the show.

I got home from
Oklahoma on Sunday
and the following
Thursday was
Thanksgiving. Of
course, by then I
really didn't need
more food but we
went to Mike's
brother, Dave's
house for
Thanksgiving and
both Dave and his
wife, Mary are great
cooks. What a
wonderful and
relaxing day we
had. I thoroughly
enjoyed myself and
it was a chance to
relax and have some
"family time".
Sunday after
Thanksgiving, Donna
Davis bought
Exceptional Candy.
She is the mare by
Excepionist out of
Miss Carri Clu that
Carri Jones owned.
She had been living
here since Carri
sold all of her
horses and she and
Rebecca had become
great friends. What
a sight to see the
two massive muscled
NN mares in the
pasture together.
At first, Donna did
not buy the embryo
by My Intentions
that Candy is
carrying but she
finally decided that
she needed the baby
in the mare also.
That foal will be
eligible for the
Breeders Cup
Futurity and in my
opinion there is no
better person to fit
halter babies or
show them than Donna
Davis. She does all
the fitting herself
and she has been
very successful at
it. I don't know
how many World
Champion trophies
she has in
her office but there
are quite a few.

Christmas was very
enjoyable this
year. We had a
get-together at my
niece, Aubrey's
house in Green
Bay. Both of my
sisters came and
what a time we had.
I had never
experienced a "white
elephant" party and
I gave my aunt's old
mink coat and my
uncle's father's
raccoon coat. My
sister, Cindy picked
my gift and we
laughed as she
modeled her "new"
clothes.
Guess what I
got-----a holster
for a pistol. Now,
all I need is the
pistol to put in
it. It was so good
to see my
family. As you
get older, it seems
more difficult to
get together with
them as they live
far away. I really
have a wonderful
family.

Mike and I have
become quite the
sport fans. The
Green Bay Packers
had such
an incredible year
until last Sunday.
We would curl up on
our couches and
watch the games. We
have several chances
to go to Lambeau
Field but actually
prefer watching
games in the comfort
of our cozy
house. Besides
the Packers, we have
been watching
Wisconsin Badger
Football and now
Basketball. The
Badgers had a
heartening loss to
to Oregon in the
Rose Bowl, but we
had a successful
season and
we sure got a lot of
enjoyment out of
it. Now, I guess
it is the
Badger basketball
and Marquette
basketball that we
will watch until
football season
starts again.

It won't be long
now until I have
some foals. Let's
all hope that this
year, they will be
fillies. I don't
think anyone needs
more than 9 stud
colts in a row.
And, that is not
even counting the 2
Fearles stud colts
that I foaled out
for Jackie Hardwicke
and Jackie James
last year. I will
post pictures
as soon as the new
"fillies" are
born. Both will be
sired by My
Intentions. The
first will be out of
Cooleah (Olivia),
the dam of A Classic
Edition. This mare
always foals early
and 320 days will be
January 19. I look
for the baby to come
around that time.
The other mare,
Janie (Kids Classic
Gal) is due on
February 26 but she
is already showing
signs that she could
be early too. I am
going to be so
disappointed if I
don't have at least
one filly out of the
two. Look for my
newborn photos of
the babies on Face
Book. I will post
them as soon as they
are born.
